The Dreaded WVB

I haven't been very productive lately and (obviously) haven't been doing much blogging. What better time could there be to work on learning a new language. You know the one. The Dreaded Word Verification Box (WVB). Although we all agree that this can be an inconvenient hassle, it is also a way to work on our foreign language skills.

Here are a few of the new words I have learned.

1. relie-that is the problem with lying. Once you start, you usually end up needing to lie more and more to keep up with the original lie. It can sometimes be very confusing keeping all those lies straight. Therefore, I strongly suggest that you avoid lying. That will prevent the need to relie.

2. stogger-one with an abnormal fascination / obsession with any certain blogger. One who stalks any certain blog and perhaps makes copies of this blog and wall papers his/her room with it.

3. refreak-what Chatty Kelly will do next time her husband allows people into her office when she hasn't cleaned it.

4. menope (me-no-pe) I went into the ladies room but after I got there, I changed my mind, menope.

5. prophy- false quotes from The Prophet.

6. alquit- What Al did when he was losing the game. Al is SUCH a poor sport!

7. ferfo- One who protests the wearing of fur.

8. inedov- When you have a strong craving for something. When I wake up in the morning, I am inedov a diet coke.

9. Archinewho- Second cousin of Archinehow.

10. tarintub- What a Mess! After Berr Rabbit got out of the tar, he went home and had a bath. He really needs to learn to clean up after himself.

11. fatenal- Medication for obesity.

12. noper- Sound made by a mute cat.

13. maywar- The battle that came after the April War.

14. bratop- Well, it makes a lot more sense than brabottom.

15. ovenizi- This is the product that was invented before the Easy-Bake Oven. Not sure why it never took off.

16. submene- The part-timer that takes over for the Full-Time Mene when he or she is on vacation.

SO, until next time.........

Today Is Tuesday. You Know What That Means...

Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means.
We're gonna have a Special Guest!!!!

I had my back injections last week but they don't seem to be kicking in as quickly as I expected. I haven't given up hope yet. I'm not getting around too well so for today's special guest I am going to FLY. I just ran this clip back in September but it makes me feel good, SO......5...4...3...2...1........

Cause Tuesday is Guest Star DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Before I introduce today's special guest, let me tell you something. 100 feet looks a LOT farther when you are 100 feet in the air and looking down, than when you are looking at it straight on.

Thanks to Chatty Kelly's computer finesse, I am able to show today's video clip.

Not surprisingly, when I made up my mind that I wanted to go Bungee Jumping, it was bound to happen. I climbed and climbed and climbed the multiple ladders/stairs until I got to the top. I had every intention of diving off. I couldn't wait!

You know, your body has this thing called self preservation. God probably put it there especially for people like me. Anyway, as badly as I wanted to dive off, my body simply would not let me. Even jumping was harder than I expected. Although my brain was saying JUMP, my entire body was saying, "Hey Stupid! Get away from the edge!". (or should that be the other way around?)

ANYWAY, It was time to (in the words of NIKE) "Just Do It!".

And I did! Hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I would have been SO cool.....except for some reason, without even realizing it, I held my nose as if I were jumping into the ocean or something....what a nerd. lol.

(that big yellow tube is something you have to hold onto when you jump. You hold it a different way for diving which is why I was switching back and forth.

SO, the first video clip is a little bit longer, it shows me hemming and hawing and trying to make myself jump. The second clip is if you just want to see the actual jump.

It doesn't feel like this was very long ago, but when you see the camera flash over to the man and 2 kids watching, those 2 little boys are now 13 and 18!

Here Goes! Heads Up!!!!!!!!!

Blah Blah Blah, & Facet Joint Injections

blah blah blah blah blah

That is what comes to mind when I sit down to write lately.
I've done a few memes and entertained my Tuesday guest, but other than that there just haven't been too many posts.I get these great ideas throughout the day, I even write them down. But then I sit down to write and.....n....o....t...h...i....n.....g.

Hmmm....lack of segway...

2 or 3 weeks ago I got Facet Joint Injections in my back. They use an x-ray machine to get the injection in the correct spot. It did help but not enough. HOWEVER, I had been at a point where the sofa was becoming my world. These injections helped take away about 50% of the pain.

Anyway, I'm going back Thursday for more injections. I would appreciate a prayer of two if you can arrange it. I must admit that I am "over" this pain thing. Unfortunately I don't think it is "over" me. The injections are not a cure and I'll still need the surgery but I can put off the surgery for a while this way. If it works for me, each visit should relieve pain for 12-14 weeks. It has only been 2-3 weeks for me but the doc did say I may need to come back sooner the first time.

I told him that I didn't want to use pain killers as a regular part of my day just to be able to get around. he agreed completely as he wrote out a script for 300 Vicadin...monthly!! DOn't worry, I'm not taking anywhere near that amount. Seems a bit reckless to me, but....

Anyway, Going back Thursday to get it done again. That will be at the 3 week mark.

Then maybe, JUST MAYBE....

Less Pain.

Wouldn't that be great!

FINALLY-- Flashback Friday w/ Mocha With Linda

Memes Memes everywhere.
I had decided not to do any more regular weekly memes but when I saw the new meme that Mocha With Linda has started, I knew that this was one I would have to join in on. SO, although it is completely unlike me to change my mind, ahem, I have decided to join in.

Flashback Friday is a series of questions about situations or events from your past.

Here is today's.

This week's flashback revolves around our early driving experiences:
How and when did you learn to drive? Do you have any particular memories associated with getting your driver license? How old were you when you got your first car and what was it? Who paid for it?

First of all, I would much rather write about another of my earlier cars. It was a combination wedding/Christmas gift from my dad when I was 18 years old. (By the way, don't get married at 18 years old...but that's another flashback all together.) Opps, we're talking about cars here.

Now we are supposed to be talking about our first car so I won't go into detail about the 1963 VW Karman Ghia that I mentioned earlier. I won't talk about how incredibly cool it was......I mean how incredibly cool it LOOKED. It was a 2 seater, hot red with a sunroof. I'm not going to talk about that car, but if I did I
would mention that on a perfect day, with perfect weather that car was COOL. If I was going to talk about that car I would comment, however, that without any air conditioning, the Virginia humidity and heat made summer days a bit uncomfortable. If I was going to talk about that car I would mention that due to the fact that there was also no heater, the winter days just a wee bit uncomfortable. By wee bit, I mean that I had to bundle up like I was going on an Arctic sleigh ride just to go to the store. I won't mention the lack of a defroster and that I had to literally scrape the ice off of the inside of the windshield after about every mile. Also, if I was talking about this car, I would have to comment about the fact that when it rained, the sunroof leaked.....ok, it poured. I really didn't mind driving while wearing a raincoat because I needed it anyway since the windshield wipers didn't work. Therefore, it would be pouring down raining and I had to keep my window all the way down so that I could stick my arm out the window and manually push the windshield wipers back and forth just so that I could see.

Oh yeah, we aren't talking about this car. HOWEVER, if we were, I would have to mention the fact that those cars were notorious for dropping trans-axles which were about $500-$600 to fix back in 1982. I actually fixed it the first time. The second time I got out of the car, called a friend to pick me up, left the car on the side of the road, looked back one time to see that both wheels had somehow ended up laying down on their sides like it was kneeling. I saluted it, turned around, walked away, and never saw it again.

BUT we aren't talking about that car.

My first car was my pare
nt's Station Wagon. You know, the "cool" ones that had the brown wood paneling down the side...lol. I think it probably looked something like this.

But you know what....It was my first car and I thought I was pretty cool just having something to drive. I was 15 1/2 (way too young to have a license in my opinion...although I may have disagreed then). Not sure what ever happened to it but I imagine my driving did not help extend its life.

Then there was the GM Gremlin. My parents were mad at me and were going to sell it. I got my boyfriend to buy it and boy were my parents annoyed when I ended up driving it home. It drove pretty well once I got the string tied to the accelerator pedal to lift it up ( by hand) when ever I was ready to stop. Then, one day I went to put something in the hatchback. I closed it and the entire back window shattered. *sigh*. For $200 you would expect something a little better, eh? OK, Maybe not.

Flashback Friday With Mocha With Linda.

Mocha with Linda has a cool new meme. Flashback Friday. I have done mine but I can't get the picture to download, SO, I am waiting until my son gets home from school to do it for me.

Yes, I know "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and feed him for life.''

First of all, I'm not going fishing.
Second of all, he HAS shown me how to do it....more than once.
Third of all, he gets REALLY annoyed with me when my cluelessness shines through.

SO, I'll be back later today for FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

In the meantime, go check it out yourself!

Today Is Tuesday. You Know What That Means

Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means.
We're gonna have a Special Guest.

Hhmm. Who should be today's special guest.
March 9th.
What incredible historical events have happened on March 9th of years past.
Hhhmmm.
Let me think.

March 9th...

In1796 Napoleon Bonaparte married Josephine Beauharnaia
In 1882 Charles Graham of NY patented Artificial teeth.
In 1916 Germany declared war on Portugal (WW1).
In 1945 334 US B-29 sper fortresses attacked Tokyo with 120,000 Fire Bombs. (WW2).
1n 1957 an 8.1 earthquake shook Andreanoc Islands, Alaska.
In 1959 Mattel's BARBIE debuted. (Over 800 Million Sold).

In Memphis TN, March 9 is the start of the annual 5 day Cotton Carnival!!

BUT, on March 9, 19bladiblah, another historical event occurred. An adorable little girl was born. Our Friend...My Sister....Happy Birthday Chatty Kelly!!!!!

That's a picture of us. A cute picture if you pretend we aren't wearing Little House on the Prairie outfits. That's our older brother, (Little House on the Prairie meets Disco Fever!). Our youngest sister was still just a twinkle in my dad's eye.

Today, in honor of my Special Guest...Chatty Kelly, my OTHER special guest will be a song from her teenage years that was and still is one her of favorites. I love this song too. However, this is the first time I ever saw the video. It's kind of like those Little House on the Prairie outfits we're wearing. You know,
cute kids....awful outfits.
Great song....Not so great video, (I think we may have found Boy George's Twin Brother!)

This is such a fun song. I'm going to be singing it all day.

I'll sing it all day, baby, all day, like a record baby, all day, all day.

opps.
Monkeys Are Funny

So, get out your "Frankie Says Relax" t-shirts, add a few more gallons of hairspray to your already 2 foot high hairdo, throw on some plastic bling (bigger, Bigger, BIGGER), cut a few holes in your shirt and make sure it hangs off of your shoulder and don't forget to stonewash those bluejeans because it's 1984 and this is Dead or Alive singing You Spin Me Round ........
Cause Tuesday is Guest Star DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Kelly!!!!!!!!!

It's Always Something

Quite often when a musical duo becomes famous, one of them is much more popular and ends up going solo.

Hall and Oates........

MyADHDMe

WHAM........

Simon and Garfunkle

It is usually pretty obvious who is going to make it big and who ends up being left behind.

After my last post I was watching the YouTube clip of The Mamas and The Papas. Watching YouTube is like playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. You start off watching something and there is absolutely no telling where you will end up. I know you will find this hard to believe but I actually have been known to be looking for something specific on YouTube and before I know it, I am WAY OFF what I was looking for. An hour has easily passed and even though I may have been searching for something like Scenes from The Carol Burnette Show, I somehow end up at vintage commercials. Thank Goodness I am such a focused person! Otherwise, that could end up causing a problem or at the very least a HUGE waste of time!

Ummm...

Oh yeah,

Quite often when a musical duo becomes famous, one of them is much more popular and ends up going solo.

It is usually pretty obvious who is going to make it big and who is going to be left behind.
I love Simon and Garfunkle......I Am A Rock......yadda yadda yadda.

Paul Simon went on with his music but Art Garfunkle fell through the cracks. No, I didn't say started smoking crack. I said he fell through the cracks....which really is a dumb saying. I suppose it means the cracks in the sidewalk and although Art Garfunkle was skinny, he wasn't THAT skinny.

Geez, the monkeys are all over the place today!

SO, I watched this clip of Simon and Garfunkle and if I didn't know either of them, I would have sworn (well, not sworn as in cursing because that would be ugly), but I would have been SURE that Art Garfunkle would have been the one to make it big. He was really good. Also, whenever I think of Art Garfunkle I picture a much goofier looking guy. The guy in this clip is good looking. In my opinion, very good looking.

Isn't it interesting how my signature always ends up floating around in the middle of my posts? Opps, my HTML is showing.

Well Jane, it just goes to show you. It's always something....

A Very Random Random Dozen

A Very Random Random Dozen. I decided to go back and choose a different group of questions rather than do the ones from this week.
Why? you ask?
How should I know?
Why is in left field.
What?
What is on second.
Who is on second?
No, Who is on first.
Well, who?
Right.
What?
No, What is on second.

(sigh) I don't know.
....THIRD BASE!

1. How good are you at delaying gratification?

I've been told that "instant gratification" is my middle name. Not something to brag about. Actually I've been told that alot of things are my middle name. Well, I don't know if they actually said it was my middle name. That's just semantics. Otherwise my name would be ... MYADinstantgratificationHDMe. That would take too long to type.

2. Maybe a marshmallow wouldn't be too difficult a temptation for you. What food (or anything else) would be most tempting?

Maybe a marshmallow WOULD be a difficult temptation for me. Nah, it wouldn't be. I could probably go for years without having another marshmallow and would never miss it. On the other hand, it probably isn't so nice to pick on marshmallows. After all, I would rather have a marshmallow than beets.
The question is what food (or anything else) would be most tempting. It would be a drink. Diet Coke.

3. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being saintly) how patient are you?

See #1.

That is with myself. I seem to have lots of patience for other people....MOST other people...not all.

4. Have you ever waited for something in life only to be disappointed upon realization of the goal/object/etc.?

probably

5. Are you a person who takes shortcuts?

Only when I do.

6. Which line is hardest to wait in?

It doesn't matter. Whichever line I get in will have a computer problem, the printer will run out of ink or paper, it will be time for a shift change, or the person in front of me will take 2 hours. OK, I do have a hard time waiting in line. Usually I have to start singing and dancing or talking to myself....it's amazing how quickly the line starts to move after that.

7. Did you wait to discover the gender of your unborn child until its birth?

No, but I did wait until after he was conceived.

8. Are you more patient with children or the elderly?

It completely depends on the individual.

9. Did you ever sneak a peek at a present?

Only once. It was Christmastime. I was 18 and married. I had 2 presents wrapped under the tree. I decided to peek at one and then I would still be able to have a surprise for the other one. The one I looked at was a portable, battery operated tv....way cool back then. I could hardly wait until Christmas to open the other. Christmas morning came. I opened the other. It was 8 D batteries, (needed for the tv). Although very practical and thoughtful, there was no surprise Christmas morning. It was a huge let down....my fault completely....but still a huge let down. I have never peeked since.

10. What is the longest you've ever waited for anything?

Still waiting.

11. Who has more patience, you or your significant other?

I thought Who was on first...

12. Which of the following songs about waiting is your pick for the best? (OK, you may substitute another, if you like.)

A) Anticipation by Carly Simon
B) The Waiting by Tom Petty
C) Right Here Waiting for You by Richard Marx
D) Wait for Me by Rebecca St. James

Monday, Monday by The Mama's and The Papa's.
On Mondays everyone goes to school and work. not that I am anti-social or anything.....
BUT.........

Today Is Tuesday. You Know What That Means

Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means.
We're gonna have a special guest!!!

One of my favorite things about Tuesday special guests is that I get requests for those artists that we all love but don't always like to admit it. I love all the "corny" favorites but yes, I have been known to roll UP the windows in the car before I turn up the radio and belt out the lyrics.

Barry Manilo, Marie Osmond, Karen Carpenter (oh I LOVE Karen Carpenter) and so many others. They are icons but somehow ended up on the "it is uncool to listen to" list. Well, here's a huge surprise......I've never been cool anyway, haha. Thank Goodness!! Way too much pressure.

Today's Special Guest was requested by Meredith.
She asked for the Bee Gees or Shaun Cassidy. Love it!

Way too many choices for the Bee Gees, (Like it or not, they were HUGE!) I'll have to get back to them.
Shaun Cassidy.......easy choice.

One of my sisters had his poster on their wall. Was it you, CK or ET?

My wall had John Travolta, Fonzie, and a life size poster of Clark Gable. (a bit of trivia there...no charge).

OK, back to today's guest, cause.....

Today is Guest Star Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
