Life Lesson #732

When you are in training for the fire department. You spend a lot of time in what is called The Burn Building. The Burn Building is a 4 story, concrete building with many rooms and stairways. For training exercises, it is filled with smoke and multiple fires ranging in size from small corner fires to rooms that are fully engulfed in flames. There are also "victims" (150-175 lb dummies) throughout the building that must be rescued.

When you are are probie/rookie, there is always at least one officer or instructor in each room to insure your safety and to access your progress.

It is extremely imperative that if you are the"man" on the nozzle (in charge of water flow), that under NO circumstances should you ever, EVER- regardless of whether or not is is completely unintentional, douse the instructor with water.

A soaking wet instructor makes for a very unhappy instructor.

An unhappy instructor makes for a VERY unhappy probie.

Believe me. I know.

Labels For This Post :

I was looking through all my old posts for a specific one the other day and ended up spending a LOT of time re-reading. Jeez! Who wrote those things? Even I could barely follow some of them. Thank goodness Monkeys are Funny or I would still be lost.

I read on Surviving Motherhood's blog the other day that she had gone back and started labeling her posts. That is something I had been thinking about doing lately but hadn't gotten around to it yet. I decided to give it a whirl.

Labels For This Post :

hhmmmm

Labels For This Post:

I could write Random, but that pretty much narrows it down to about 85% of my posts.
BTW, did you know that 94.6% of all statistics are made up on the spot?

Ok, a few are easy. As a matter of fact, when Edie helped me out during one of my many technical problems, she started it out for me.

Labels For This Post : Today is Tuesday. You Know What That Means.

That one was easy.

A few more .....
Firefighting
Memes
The Arts: Songs and Poetry By MyADHDMe
The Dreaded WVB
Step Away From The Car

That still leaves the rest in the very wide category of Random.

Occasionally, I write something from the, ahem, heart. So I suppose there is the "Deep Thoughts" category.

I think I need some help here.

Any suggestions?

Oh, I already thought of the category of "Completely random things that somehow make it from my brain to the keyboard", but that was too long.

Oh great, I just realized that I need a label for this post. I think I'll leave it blank until one of you comes up with a suggestion.

SO, anybody out there have any ideas for labels for my posts?....hey, be nice...They can't ALL say Typical ADHD.

Have an outstanding day!!

Today is Tuesday. You Know What that Means!!!

Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means.
We're gonna have a special guest!!!!

So wiggle your ears
Like good Mousekateers.
Cause Tuesday is Guest Star Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have to say that this is the Number One WORST commercial, imho, of all time.

It became HUGE! Everyone was saying it and it was even made on t-shirts, mugs, etc.

UGH!!!!

To me it rates up there with "I've fallen, and I can't get up!
But, I try to invite a very large range of Special Guests, even one that may drive me crazy-er.

I have over a page of ideas but am not in the mood for any of those.

Leave me a comment if you want to see a favorite that I've never shown.

Commercials, Theme Songs, Songs, TV's, Movies...just about anything.

Have a great day and would someone please give that old lady a hamburger!!!

15 Minutes of Fame

Well, you know that when my back is hurting I spend a large part of the day staring at the tv. I know I've talked about the wonderful shows (NOT) that come on during the late night hours, but the daytime ones are just as, um, thrilling.

I guess people can't get enough court tv all night because it comes on all day also. I was watching Judge Alex the other day and this couple was telling every deep dark secret they ever had to millions of viewers...well, maybe thousands.

It went something like this:

Her-All I wanted was for him to go with me to my daddy's birthday party.

Him-Judge, I was busy. I work all week and that was my only day off. I had a lot to do. I tell you, I was busy! You know what I'm saying?

Judge- Well, no, not exactly. What were you so busy doing that you couldn't go to her daddy's party?

Him-Judge I was busy.

Judge- Yeah, I got that. Busy doing what?

Him- I was...uh.Judge,you know....uh..um, Judge you know.....I was reading!

(I guess you had to see them to get how completely ridiculous that statement was.)

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

another conversation:

Her-I pull up to my parking space and there is a strange car parked there..in MY space! I never SEEN that car. I didn't KNOW that car. I had never been intro to the owner of that car...but there it was. Just sitting in MY space, just like it belonged there.

More Her-So I walk in MY house and find some strange woman laying there rubbing his back. I didn't know that woman. I never seen that woman before that day. I was never introduced to that woman. I never sent out an invitation to that woman, but there she was!

Judge- (to the man) Do you have a response to that?

Him-Judge, I was as surprised as SHE was!

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

HHmmmm I wonder if Judge Alex has a blog?

Could I Borrow a Couple of Those Knitting Sticks?

According to Albert Einstein, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Sometimes I actually enjoy hard strenuous labor. I like the feeling of accomplishment. I like the feeling when I'm finished of just laying back in complete exhaustion. It makes me feel stronger and healthier. I even like the feeling of breaking out into a good sweat while I'm working....that is if I don't have to worry about going anywhere after wards without any make-up.

I heat my house with a wood burning stove. It is a great money saver, not to mention very cozy. Last year when the tree fell on our house, the men cut it into pieces the correct size but didn't split it. I'm sure they would have....$. Much of it has been laying in a pile in the backyard ever since then. I used to split wood to help make myself stronger for fire fighting. Also, as you may recall from one of my recent posts, we do a lot of work with axes and I had never swung an axe at all before becoming a fire fighter.

Well, I know that I can not/should not do that anymore because of my back.

Oh great, how did I start underlining everything. This is annoying. How can I think about what I am writing while everything is being underlined. It would be different if I was underlining a certain statement, but not the entire post. I don't even know how to underline something. I have NO idea what I did to make it start doing this. That is why I never underline. Instead, to emphasize what I am saying I always put it in CAPITAL LETTERS.

Monkey are Funny.

Underlining is annoying.

MONKEYS ARE FUNNY!!

OK, anyway. I'll try to ignore it. Hope you can. Where was I...

I'm not so incredibly dumb that I would go outside and start trying to split that wood. I know I would hurt myself.

But it was all laying out there in a pile and I knew it was going to rot it if didn't get stacked.

This underlining is driving me crazy-er. I'm going to take a break from this and call Chatty Kelly. She'll be able to fix it....

Whew, thank you Kelly. This is SO much better...(note the capitalized letters in the word SO).

MONKEYS ARE FUNNY.

So, I decided that I would just stack the logs...not split them. Just stack them. I know how to lift properly. I know how to use my legs instead of my back. I know that I need to be careful and not to lift to much at once.

It actually felt good to do some hard work.

Well, it felt good at the time, that is. Today...not so good. You would think I would have learned and that I would know better by now. Ol'Albert knew what he was talking about. I guess I need to find a hobby. Something that makes me feel good about myself but doesn't make me walk like a little old lady for days afterwards. There's always knitting. I wonder where I should go to get some of those knitting sticks.....
