Today Is Tuesday. You Know What That Means

Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means.
We're gonna have a special guest!!

I am trying to think of a great USA Winter Olympic Moment. Unfortunately, the Kerrigan/Harding fiasco keeps coming to my mind. That entire episode was an embarrassment to the USA and they have not been invited to be our special guest.

So, I was browsing You Tube and came across a fantastic moment in USA Olympic history.
You may or may not remember this....that narrows it down, doesn't it? I was in my early teens but I remember "The Miracle on Ice".

If you don't remember, the story is told on the YouTube clip.

It's the 1980 Winter Olympics and the US is about to stun the world with "The Greatest Sports Moment of the Twentieth Century"....." The Miracle On Ice".

The Kiss of Death

I got a new reader the other day. She left the nicest comment. It said...

"This is the first time I've visited your site, but I'm TOTALLY coming back! You are HILARIOUS! You even made my husband chuckle and that takes a LOT!"

Thank you so much. But now....I'm funny? Oh No! I thought you all came here for deep intellectual reading.

Humor eh.....well, ok. I guess I can change my entire writing style.
Humor.....uhhh

Lets see....

A priest and a rabbi went to a bar...

Nope. That doesn't work. Perhaps priests and rabbis go into bars but the chance of both of them going into a bar at the same time is pretty slim. Would they be wearing their church clothes? If they weren't, I wonder how long they would be chatting before they realized they others professions. Would they be drinking? Also, what day of the week would they be there?
Also, isn't one of the main reasons people go to bars is to pick up members of the opposite sex. That isn't an option, is it? I mean, of course priests and rabbis are welcome to go into bars if they want to but even if they did, does that mean someone has to make a joke about it? Can't people just leave them alone! Maybe they were out and about and just wanted a diet coke and a bit of friendly conversation. Don't judge them. That just isn't nice. How would you like to be judged if you went somewhere. What if so many jokes started out with, "A writer and a firefighter went to a library......"? Or how about "A stay at home mom and a decorated war vet went into a Starbucks......"? Just because you go into an establishment, does that automatically mean a joke should be said about it? And what if you aren't in the mood to tell a joke? Would the joke still be funny if you said it later when you were in a funnier mood? Would if be as funny if you said "A stay at home mom and a decorated war vet just walked OUT of a Starbucks......."? And what if they aren't in the mood for Starbucks? What about saying "A stay at home mom and a decorated war vet just walked PAST a Starbucks....."? And what if there isn't even a Starbucks around? And what about people like me that don't even like coffee so rarely visit Starbucks? Where will I go to get my material? Is it fair for me to make a joke about people going into Starbucks if I rarely visit them myself? And what about....

I give up. I just can't be funny "on demand".
And what's so funny about monkeys?

Oh, but seriously, thanks for the nice comment.
And have an outstanding evening. Well, no need to be outstanding. Go in the house. It's awfully cold out there. Have an In-Sitting evening!!

Random Dozen

Welcome to my Random Dozen. this is a meme from Lidna at 2nd Cup of Coffee......but I bet you already knew that!

1. Are you pleasant when you're ill, or are you a grumpy, fussy patient?

Pleasant....really. Of course it is easier now that the kids are older and I can actually rest a bit when I'm sick.

2. When you find out that school is canceled (due to inclement weather) what is your gut reaction?

Haha. Was this written just for me? Honestly it is ok when I turn off the alarm and go back to sleep....but then I have to get up...and there are people in my space.....
ALSO, it is fun the first day. Kind of like a holiday. The 2nd day is still a bit festive. On the 3rd day I was beginning to get a bit annoyed that no one knows how to hang up wet snow clothes and there are puddles of melted snow on the floor (wet socks...yuck). By day 4 my left eye started to twitch and I was feeling a bit jumpy but then on day 5 everything was fine. Nothing bothered me at all as I sat in my own little corner, rocking back and forth, singing incoherently to myself. Days 6,7,and 8 are just a jumbled memory.....

3. What is one domestic skill you wish you could improve?

As a Domestically Disabled woman, it is difficult to choose one. My family would probably be thrilled if I could improve my cooking.

4. Do you decorate your home for Valentine's Day?

WAHAHA! No.

5. What song is on your mind today?

Flying Purple People Eater.

OK, not really. It is actually that commercial....Call JG Wentworth 877-CASH NOW!!
I tried to post it here but it keeps ending up at the bottom of this post. At least you now have something to look forward to.

(oh great...now I'm humming Flying Purple people Eater!)

6. Do you prefer contemporary movies or classic?

Classic

7. How well do you "compartmentalize" your feelings? For example, how well can you put aside a really trying moment to deal with the immediate situation which is not related to the trying moment, e.g., putting aside a tiff with your spouse in order to finish wallpapering a room.

I am The Queen of compartmentalization!!
(however, not so good at wallpapering...)

8. What is the first thing that attracted you to your spouse? (Or if you're single, to your best friend.)

Sorry, I didn't hear you. What did you say?

9. When was the last time your heart raced?

It was probably that time I drank too much caffeine.

10. What are your memories of Valentine's Day at school?

Making those mailboxes and passing out valentines to the other kids mailboxes. I don't remember all the valentines having candy attached like they do now.

11. If you were going to receive candy for Valentine's Day, which would you prefer?

No big preference but go ahead and wait until the day after and get it half off...better yet, wait a few more days and get it for 75%-90% off.

Oh, don't tell anyone, and I'm sure you couldn't tell, but I'm not big on Valentines Day.... hopefully I'm not big on any day ....... why? Do I look fat to you? DON'T ANSWER THAT!!

12. Red or pink?

1. Red
2. Anything that isn't pink.

The Return of The Dreaded WVB

It seems like the spammers have been out more lately. Because of that, we are encountering more and more of The Dreaded WVB..........Word Verification Box.

As I have mentioned in the past, we should not look at these scrambled letters as an inconvenience, but rather as a wonderful way to enrich our vocabularies. I have learned quite a few new and useful words because of the WVB

For example...
