I Almost Forgot to Tell You!!...Christmas with Chatty kelly and MyADHDMe

Every year Kelly and I exchange Christmas gifts. Even though we have both cut out exchanging with many other people, we always enjoy buying something fun, quirky or special for each other.

She gave me a really cool book. It is called "Imagine God's blog". by Lanny Donoho. It is written in blog form as the author would imagine God would write it. There was even a page or 2 about bubbles...you all know me and bubbles. I finished it pretty quick. It was an interesting and enjoyable read. There was something he wrote about Free Time that I want to share with you.

" There is no such thing as free time because time is a gift from God. It isn't free because every second, minute, and hour that you use, you have to give up something else. you must trade one thing for another. All transactions are final.
Make sure you fill up your time with things you can really use. After all, you could be out of time....really soon."

I'm quite sure he isn't saying not to take advantage of any "free" time...just that we need to PRIORITIZE our time".

Anyway, I liked that.

NOW, as for what I gave her. I used to be into gimmicks ands gadgets but over the years have gotten away from that. HOWEVER, this year I just couldn't resist. As you may know, Kelly has a MAJOR germ Phobia. I was thumbing thru a magazine called Things You Never Knew Existed and THERE IT WAS!! A UV Scanner, that was pocket sized. You just open it up. Hold it over just about any surface and PRESTO!, germs are sanitised. Works on sinks, toilet seats, handle bars, table tops, even fruit and just about anything. Also comes with a nice carrying case.

I was pretty syked about giving it to her. (psyched?)

So, Christmas Eve comes and we exchange gifts. I LOVE the book. As for the UV scanner, well, we take it out of the box and install the batteries. It won't close all the way when the batteries are in it. Also the batteries didn't work : ( . New batteries made it function but it still wouldn't stay closed.

SO, this awesome, unique and REALLY COOL gift needs to be exchanged. Sigh* . I was going to mail it back lst week. oppps. It's going tomorrow for sure,

Hopefully the new one will work.

Christmas is coming, (in just a tad over 300 days)
The goose is getting fat.
please put a penny in the old mans hat!!!

I'd heard Sherry on K-Love.com talk about this gadget. She has germ-phobia too. What a pain it's defective. I think the relationship you and Kelly have is awesome. : )

I love to hug germaphobes. It makes them go crazy. I figure if germ want to get me let them just try. I thought that was a great gift.

Kelly said...

I'm not a MAJOR germaphobe...just a minor one. I don't mind hugging, I just don't like shopping cart handles or public rest rooms. Or public phones. I once saw a mom pushing her child in the grocery cart as the child vomited into a plastic bag. That kind of ruined me for shopping carts.

Clorox wipes are my friends. But I don't want anyone to think I am crazy or anything. I do eat in public restuarants, and we all know what they do to our food back there.

ADHD left out the funniest part of the story, and that is the 3 husbands trying to make it work. One is a machinest, one is a computer techie, and the other an engineer. They all thought that THEY could make it work. It was hysterical!

You guys rock. Did I mention I don't have a sister??

My ADHD Me said...

Oh yeah...Kelly tried to make it work. I rolled my eyes and told her to give it to me as I was sure I could fix it...after fumbleing a few minutes, the mechinist husband shook his head and took it to fix...then the computer tech took it (I was pretty sure he would get it), last of all the engineer said something like, "Oh, just let me fix it". It was only deemed defective after each tried themselves. haha.

Also, just a note regarding CK..She really is a BIG germaphobe....but I must admit she doesn't seem to have a hugging problem.....
I, on the other hand have no problem with germs but jump and stiffen like a board if someone wants to hug me...Hugaphobe?

My ADHD Me said...

2nd cup-Edie is already our honorary sister....a big family is fine with me....maybe if it keeps getting bigger, I won't be the weird one. At least not the weirdest....nah... it will always be me.
Anyway, fill in the appropriate paperwork and it's a done deal...just don't ask me what the appropriate paperwork is...oh....and no hugs please. : )

LOL!! Ok I had to crack up at your gift to CK.

What's funny is that as I was looking at the pictures (and had to click for the closeups), I thought, "Does adhd-jo have a germ phobia? (thinking it was your gift) I would have thought CK would be the one with that phobia." Yes I did! LOL!

I love your book too! Sounds like a good read. You both really know how to choose gifts for each other.

Photo Tip: To avoid hotspots on your picture, take the picture from a slight angle. ;)

If you haven't got a penny, a hay penny will do. If you haven't got a hay penny then God Bless You!

Edie said...

I just read the comments and now cracking up all over again! What a riot that everyone has to try to fix it before they will conceed that it is defective. When you get the new one I do want the report on it's effectiveness. This would be the perfect gift for my daughter.

Big ((HUGS)) to you!! LOL.

Edie said...

You do know that if I ever meet you in person, you really will get a hug. :)

Kelly said...

Edie - you'll have to hug me twice. ADHD really doesn't like to hug. Sonya (truth4the journey) hugged her when we all got together at Sue's a while back, and we had to peel ADHD off the ceiling.

Then ADHD had the nerve to mock me because I won't let ANYONE drink out of my drink (even my kids). So Sonya said next time she'll hug me and take let ADHD take a sip out of her drink. She's speaking to each of us in our own love language. LOL!!!

Edie said...

CK - You know that just makes me want to hug her and take a drink out of your cup don't you!?! LOL!!

I suppose I could be nice if I have to. :)

Kelly said...

Yup - you are just proving you are related to us. LOL

My ADHD Me said...

CK and Edie--hhmm...maybe I'm not the weirdest one after all...something to think about.

It's also funny that it always looks like I have many comments until someone looks and sees that 80% are from the same people. No, not exactly 80%. That was a random guess. Did you know that 89.4% of all percentages are made up on the spot?

My ADHD Me said...

Oh, and Edie, thanks for the photo tip. I ALWAYS get that blare...I mean I can now say I USED to always get that blare...ok....maybe I still will be the weirdest.

What great gifts. I'm so curious about that germ buster. How would one really "know" if it worked. Coz ya can't see a germ to see if it's gone?
Round here, we live by the 3 second rule, everyone drinks out of everyone elses sodas, we hug constantly, and we're just one big happy germfilled family. lol

My ADHD Me said...

This should make you nervous. Most restaurants live by the 3 second rule too!
And yes, if there is a water bottle on the counter, I will drink out of it....unless JM's friends are here....I'd be happy if they would just take a shower!!

Edie said...

3 second rule? I call it the 5 minute rule around here. It doesn't get any dirtier sitting on the floor for 5 minutes than it does 3 seconds. Not that we let anything sit on the floor for 5 minutes if we know about it. I'm just sayin'...

Lea has a good point with that germ buster thingy. How do you measure it's effectiveness?

You could offer to let JMs friends use your shower. :P

Rice-a-Roni, the San Francisco treat. Rice-a-Roni, the flavor can't be beat...

Edie said...

Besides, I've never actually seen someone clinging to the ceiling before. It would make for an interesting blog post. :)

My ADHD Me said...

I don't offer JM's friends showers. They all know that when they come over to spend the night that I REQUIRE it. Then they put on some of JM's clothes and I wash their's. There is very little worse than stinky teenage boys!!

When I get the new UV Scanner back, I'll tell you all what it says on the back about it. but like you said....who knows....It does say don't look directly at it when it is on. I checked it though and didn't go blind (I do dumb things like that sometimes).

If I get stuck on the ceiling, you will have to take the picture. Just remember that somehow my head needs to be upright. Remember the post about looking at your face in a mirror while looking at the floor? lol

My ADHD Me said...

I've written an awful lot here.
Does this count as a separate post?

Edie said...

So, are you saying that blind germs are harmless but you gotta watch out for the ones that can see? LOL!!!

Edie said...

And how did you check it if it didn't work?

Ok, I'm going home now. :)

My ADHD Me said...

At first it didn't work at all...The batteries were dead. After replacing the batteries, it worked but the battery cover wouldn't stay in place unless you held it there. aahhhh.

How sweet of you to take care of your sister's phobia. I never thought to consider phobia's when brainstorming gift ideas. You're brilliant! *grin*

Kelly said...

I do NOT have a phobia! For Pete's sake! (Who is Pete, and why does he care about my lack of phobia?) I just like clean stuff. You know, cleanliness... godliness. It's a pattern. Luckily Jesus has washed my clean of all my sins. :P

It is not a phobia. It is a high level of concern. And, dare I say it, I rarely ever get sick, whereas my sister is always fighting some cold germ. HA!

I do have a lack of comments phobia. How is it you have 27 comments?!?! They like you, they really like you.

My ADHD Me said...

9.....now 10 of my comments are from me.

(p.s. she does have a phobia...)

You ladies are a good cure for depression. A daily dose of you will keep the blues away:)

We like you, we really, really like you.

Heaven said...

I bet you three would also be a good cure for ADHD. I could have every ADHD kid read your "chat room", and they would totally feel like they fit in. Every sibling who has ever nit picked at each other would also love it here. Anyone with germaphobia or hugaphobia would love it here too. Heck, the only one who wouldn't fit in here is the "very-serious-don't-crack-a-smile" person...

I've said it before, but it bares repeating (no, not bears, there are no grizzly bears here).

And actually, I think it was Chatty Kelly who said it in the first place...but now I'm not sure...

I think my blog has the ADHD virus and spreads it thru to my readers.

Kelly said...

I do not have a phobia. So there.

My ADHD Me said...

(she has a phobia)

Marla said...

I really think that I would have to hug you if we ever meet. You just seem like one of those people that you just need to hug. My daughter is a germ phobia person too. I don't have any phobia's that I am aware of!

Edie said...

35 comments?!? How did you do that!?

CK - You're sounding a little defensive. Just a little mind you. I could be wrong but... well... I'm just sayin'. LOL!

I don't have a germ phobia but I hardly ever get sick. I don't have a problem being near people who are sick either. Now I do like cleanliness. I just don't have any germ phobias that's all. LOL!! Just playin with ya my friend.

GG said you *three*...
"God sets the lonely in families." Psalm 68:6
Thanks ... :)

"God sets the lonely in families'

I like that.

My ADHD Me said...

Oh, and Edie, you WILL be at the next family reunion. You might just like it...or you might end up running and screaming all the way back to Texas. I might just join you!

Edie said...

It's 1:25 am and you now have 38 comments. I am making it 39 with this comment that has nothing to do with your post. Do I hear 40!?

How fun! Great way to laugh during the holidays and I'm sure ya'lls gifts are ones you really look forward with anticipation to opening....I see you've already begun the count down to next year!

I'm so late to this party but....

That everyone in contact with C.K. locally knows she has an issue with germs probably means she has a germ phobia that she just isn't willing to admit.

I'm pretty sure I hugged ADHDMe once. Now, I may have had a Diet Coke to give her, which probably softened the blow.

The "how many husbands does it take to...." joke book just got one bigger.

I'm hardly waiting for the follow-up post. I'm sure you're going to check it out yourself first--let us know how it goes.

Germs, beware....These sisters don't mess around!
