I really really wish that the Men and Women competing in the Curling Competition would come and practice on my kitchen floor! I know it would be a huge inconvenience on my part but I'm willing to do my part for the USA!
I first heard about curling from a lady I used to work with from Canada. Apparently she loved the sport. I always have to laugh when I think of it though. Who would have thought that ice mopping could be as big a deal as hockey?
I am definitely not an expert. I learn the game every 4 years when it comes on TV. I believe curling refers to the motion of the rock as it comes down the playing surface. It curls--and is helped to curl--with its movement on the ice and the motion of the brooms.
Apparently, you can play this in Maryland. I would love to check that out.
What I really want to know about are the shoes, because they work like those "wheelies." I wouldn't mind doing housework on those....
So, basically since I read this post the other day, up til now, I've been asking everyone I run into what they know about "curling"- so, I have a pretty good idea about it now. Whew! One more step outside of the closet for Heidi.
My favorite t.v. show when I was growing up? Hmmm. Let's see. I loved the Carol Burnett Show and the way my dad would laugh and laugh at her skits. I loved the Sonny and Cher show and the way my mom would reprimand, with an elevated tone, "Bob!", my dad when he'd oogle at Cher's lack of clothing as she'd sing "... she was a V-A-M-P- vamp!"
Our family loved watching Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom and then Disney- Sunday night ritual. The only time we got to eat dinner in front of the television instead of at the table.
I was a Brady Bunch fan for sure. Marsha, Marsha, Marsha and I liked the Partridge Family. These were the after school faves.
If you want to go waaay back- that would be the days of Flipper- "...and we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder, flying there under- under the sea..."
I also always had to watch Fury- Fury was a black stallion befriended by a boy named Joey. It was popular in the 50's and 60's. I was quite young in my Fury fan days. Lone Ranger was on then, too. I liked the opening of that show.
On Sunday mornings while mom was trying to find everyone's shoes for church, I'd try to catch as much of Davey and Goliath as I could. They were claymation and I loved how their play- dough mouths moved when they talked.
Is that enough information? Haaaahaaa! I always give the short answer.
Hi! Thanks for stopping at my photo blog and leaving such a nice comment! I'm laughing at what I'm reading here. I love the compatiblism post and I think having the curler come to your kitchen is a great idea~!
I'm in the dark as is 2Thinks... I haven't watched any of it.. and this is the FIRST I've seen it! LOVE THEE IDEA of on the kitchen floor though! They can do mine after yours!
I am not the most consistent person you will ever know. I might write my own blogs...I might not. I tend to say too much and then regret it so if I do write, hopefully I'll re-read what I've written and then delete most of it. I Love Jesus.I am trying to reach the point in my life where I remember to "give it to God". Sometimes, I forget that he is in charge and then I try to do it myself. So far the results should be proof enough that I need to let him take over. I'm working on it with help from a few special people.
I am a firefighter and an EMT, and of course I am an adrenalin junkie. I am more focused and work best under stressful situations.
I have 2 kids whom I adore. They are boys ages 12 and 17. They are proof that I don't ALWAYS work best under stressful situations!! But, we'll be fine.
I have tons of respect for our military and our country.
My Blog title is Monkey's Are Funny...ok, they really aren't that funny but that's what my sister and I say when my ADHD kicks in. (long story)
Also, I tend to ramble....

Imagine how clean it would be? Wow, that is a great idea. You'd need to turn the heat down and the AC up.
HaHa!

Great idea! I wonder who I contact to volunteer my kitchen for practices?
That has got to be one of the weirdest sports ever invented. They did a feature on it and the team on the NBC News last night.
And why is it even called curling?!

As I sit here in the dark, so to speak, with no television, I can only imagine that curling has nothing to do with making your hairdo bigger.
I can always Google it, I know....*sigh*
Hey and if your kitchen gets to 'full' of people practicing...they can you use mine as back up too!
Have a GREAT weekend!
weekly! even in my 35 week pregnant state, I would be willing to move my refrigerator for them! you are brillant!
do you think it would work on tubs as well?? sigh, I guess there is not enough room in there.
Curling is a sport like bowling is a sport. It's in the olympics so people who look like me can get a gold medal.

Builderman and I were just discussing curling. Baffling. Really doesn't seem to belong in the olympics.

I second that... but then my beloved would ask me, "what? You don't think i do a good enough job?" 8)
AMEN sista! I really can't believe this is an olympic sport when Wushu Kung Fu isn't....
