The Art of Getting To The Point

Good Morning. I was sitting here and as usual, I wanted to write but couldn't come up with anything. I can't understand this! I used to be able to write everyday. So, I took a few moment s to go take a peek at some of my past posts. I wanted to see what I wrote about then. I figured I'd spend 5 minutes max to take a look and maybe would have some huge inspiration.

SO....1 1/2 hours later (did I mention I tend to get sidetracked) I was still reading and I realized that most of my posts were about....um....were about....Well...i have no idea.

I can't believe how muc
h I rambled on about things. I wrote about answering machines, junebugs, My Fan, The FBI, Bunnies, Burritos, and a dead mole...just to name a few. And yet, you wonderful people still keep coming back!

My! How I used to ramble on. I just rambled and rambled about anything and everything. I'm so glad I don't do that anymore! Can you imagine still reading this blog when all I did was to write about anything and everything? Not only that, but it took me 3 paragraphs to write what the average person can write in 2 sentences. WHEW! I'm glad I don't do THAT anymore. What a lot of reading and writing it would take just to try to get one thought across. Yes, it's a good thing I don't do THAT anymore.

Ramble....in addition to "walking aimlessly", "sprawling" and "wander about", you could also say...
talk aimlessly
talk endlessly
babble
beat around the bush
dwell on
rattle on
rant
confused
talk nonsense
chatter
go off on a tangent
stray
talk off the top of ones head
get off the subject
drift
drivel
wordy
incoherent
irregular
among others.

I got these from my Thesaurus.

Thesaurus: A dictionary of synonyms and antonyms. Any dictionary, enclyclopedia or other comprehensive book. A store house or Treasury.

I absolutely love my Thesaurus!!

Man! I am so glad that I don't ramble anymore!!

have a terrific day!!

Flashback Friday With Mocha With Linda.

Today I am participating in Mocha With Linda's Flashback Friday. Usually her flashbacks are more of a "fun" topic with thoughts and antics from our youth but today's is a bit more serious in nature. However, as I realized, I don't have many memories from my youth so I haven't been able to participate very often. I am grateful for today's topic because I am curious how other people handle these difficult situations. Also, today's brings back memories of a wonderful young boy I knew.
"How old were you (approximately) when you attended your first funeral? Did your parents shield you from death and grief or was it viewed as a natural part of life? Did you experience any significant loss(es) in your growing up years? What were your early impressions of death and dying? And while I do not intend this in any irreverent way, are there any amusing memories associated with a death or funeral? If you have kids, how have you handled this subject with them? Feel free to share as vulnerably or as shallowly as you want!"

One of my grandmother's passed away when I was around 11 or 12 but as I mentioned earlier, I really cannot remember much of my youth until my late teens and early twenty's.

So, I am going to tell you about a sweet young man who passed away for too early in his life.

I got married the month I turned 18. It was a mistake. The man I married was 21 or 22. We were both too young and both came from troubled homes. The marriage didn't last. Although we both had issues, I must admit that I was more at fault than he was.

He had 7 siblings (8 kids total-wow). By far, the friendliest and sweetest of his siblings was one of his younger brothers, DJ.

DJ was about 16 and had just purchased a car. He was SO proud of this car but it actually had too much power.

One thing I'll never forget is that phone call we received that awful morning at around 5:00 AM. DJ had been out with friends, yes he was drinking, and was on his way home. His best friend, who was also drinking said he would follow him home to make sure he got there ok. More than likely, they were playing around, maybe racing or goofing off. Anyway, DJ wrapped (literally) his car around a telephone pole. He died on impact. Although I didn't know his friend that was following him, I've often wondered how that night has haunted him. Many of you probably either know someone who has, or have themselves followed someone home to make sure they got there ok. Well, DON'T. Give them a ride. Or if you aren't able to, find them a ride, call a taxi or just take their keys and make them stay.

I remember being "the strong" one". I've always been "the strong one". My husband was crushed. I didn't know how to deal with it. I had been raised in a home where we all hid our feelings until I had finally gotten to the point where I had convinced myself that I didn't have any at all.

I remember going to the funeral home and making the arrangements. DJ didn't own a suit and his family wanted him buried in one, so I was the one that went and purchased a new suit for him.

At the funeral home, I greeted people, hugged them, listened while they cried, and held my husbands hand. I never shed a tear. Afterwards, at his aunts house, I went into the bathroom and tried to make myself cry, but I couldn't.

I felt haunted.

For months I felt haunted but then God sent me a message...a miracle that helped me get through this.

He sent me a dream.

In my dream, I was in a grocery store. As I was getting ready to leave, I looked out the huge glass front of the store and there was DJ. He was standing there with his hands in his pockets. (I remember it like it was yesterday). Even though there was a wall of glass between us, I could hear him perfectly. He looked me straight in the eyes and said, "Don't worry. I'm OK". That is all he said. Then he gave me that goofy smile he had. He took his hands out of his pockets and saluted me, (that was something he always did when he was alive).

Then he was gone.

I woke up with a peacefulness that I hadn't felt in a long time.

I'm smiling now as I picture it.

Today is Tuesday. You Know What That means!!

Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means.
We're gonna have a Special Guest!!

So put on your ears,
Like Good Mousekateers,
Cause Tuesday is Guest Star Day!!

Comedy from the 1970's and today has changed drastically.

If my Special Guest was an unknown and went on stage today to do his song, I can only wonder how an audience would respond.

I think Steve Martin is hilarious. I have always loved his off-beat comedy. But he isn't just a comedian. He is also an accomplished actor, author, musician, producer and composer. He has won EMMY, Grammy, and American Comedy Awards.

SO, without further ado.....AND because it is already 3:45PM on Tuesday and I haven't posted yet.....I give you Steve Martin!!! Cause Tuesday is Guest Star Day!!!!

The Reason IS The Season

I looked out the window.
I stifled a yawn.
The blanket of snow
is finally gone.

Although it was pretty
So pure and so clean.
When my toes are ice cold
I can be rather mean.

Now the grounds covered
With sticks and with mud.
The river is rising
We might have a flood.

Each morning I'm freezing
And wanting a fire.
By noon I'll be sweating,
(opps, ladies perspire).

The weather in April
Is hard to predict
Even the weathermen
often get tricked.

So I wake up each morning
and bundle up warm.
As the day starts to progress
I start to transform

I change from my blue jeans
To shorts around noon.
I know that the sweatshirt
Will have to go soon.

So I'm changing my clothes
on and off through the day.
The windows I open and close
on the way.

I'm telling you this
So you'll know the real reason.
It's NOT menopause!!
It only the season.....

Today Is Tuesday. You Know What That Means

Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means.
We're gonna have a SPECIAL GUEST!!!

Do you ever get that feeling like you are just losing your mind?
Oh come on. I may get it a lot more often than you do, but we all get it at one time or another.

Although today's special guest feels more than a little bit crazy because of a relationship gone bad, there are also many, many other reasons to feel like if we just don't pull it together then, well, they just might be....COMING TO TAKE ME AWAY!! HAHA!!

Well...That's Good.

The English language can sometimes drive me crazy-er. If I had to learn it as an adult, I would be mute forever....hhmmm, interesting theory. Even so, there are situations where I just cannot come up with the correct word, pronunciation, or grammar.

Definition of Well-In a Good or satisfactory manner.
Definition of Good-Satisfactory or high quality.

So, when one is sick, we say "Get well soon". After all, saying "Get Good Soon" would just be silly.

How about "How are you feeling today?"
"I feel good"
"I feel well"
"I am well"
"I am good"

Then the person that asked the question would respond "Good".

So I suppose that new dress looks good because I wear it well. But if I ask you how it looks and you say "good" then I will be pleased but it I ask you and you say "Well" then I will be standing there waiting for you to finish your sentence with something like, "Well, I've seen better" which would be better than saying "I've seen gooder".

Quite often we will say "Good Luck" but I haven't heard anyone ever say "Well Luck".

Also, if Well is Good then why do we use it to start a response that usually is not good....ie the response about the dress "Well, I've seen better". Isn't that like saying "Good, I've seen better"? But it could also mean "UGH, I've seen better".

Well is a wonderful segway into any new conversation but Good would be odd.

On the phone, Well usually means "I'm getting ready to end this call". Which can sometimes be Good because you may have been on the phone too long and your head is starting to hurt in which case you aren't feeling Well at all.

Not to mention that it would be hard to fetch a pail of water out of a Good. But quite easy to fetch a pail of water out of a well.......except does anyone really ever use the word fetch other than when talking to their dog?

Well, that's another thought for another day.

Have a Good Day!

der Blog

This is an excerpt from Alberquando's first German 1 quiz.

The directions were to translate the German words into English.
Note the one he missed.....

1. der karotte....... carrot

2. der apfel....... apple

3. sauer.........sour

4. grĂ¼n.........green

5. der Volkswagen..............?????

OK, I definitely would have missed numbers 1-4 and I'm proud he knew them but I can't help but laugh that the one he missed is the only obvious one. Perhaps the correct answer to number 5 is Chevrolet??

Have a supercalifragilisticexpialidotious day!!!!!!

Just in Case You Forgot....Today is Tuesday. You Know What That Means!

Hi there! My name is MyADHDMe. Many of you may remember me. I used to write a blog quite regularly. I also used to go and visit other people's blogs. I enjoyed writing, reading and chatting with all the friends I had met through this blogging adventure. Unfortunately, I got into a slump and seemed to never get into the "groove" to even mess with it. At one time the writing came fast and easy but I had gotten into a rut and even when I did sit down to write, the words didn't want to come.

Luckily, due to today being Tuesday (and you know what THAT means), AND knowing how difficult it would be for many to get going on their day without a special guest, I am drawn back to my computer.

SO, today I am drawn back to my computer to re-introduce myself to the thousands of you that are on the edge of your seats every Tuesday, anxiously awaiting to see who will be visiting.

Perhaps, just perhaps, there will even be a new post here again BEFORE next Tuesday. Perhaps, just perhaps, I will go back and visit some of the great people I have met and catch up on their blogs. And perhaps, just perhaps, I will get back into the swing of things!!

On the other hand, it IS Spring break so perhaps, just perhaps, I will go back to bed and catch another hour (or so) of sleep.Who know? But I do know this...and so do you...

Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means (see, I told you that you did).
We're gonna have a special guest!!!

So put on your ears
Like good Mousekateers.
Cause Tuesday is Guest Star DAY!!!!!!!!!

Some time ago a young musician began a "year long saga" trying to get United Airlines to repair his guitar that their baggage handlers damaged. After receiving "complete indifference" and being told "I'm sorry sir your claim can go nowhere", he informed United that he was going to write 3 songs about his ordeal and post them on You Tube. It became an overnight sensation and had MILLIONS of hits after the first day! He was even featured on CNN.

You may remember that I was lucky enough to have him visit as my Tuesday Special Guest for his first 2 songs. His first song was a wonderful catchy tune that I still catch myself singing at times. His second song was good but kind of left me with a feeling that 3 songs was going to be too many....kind of like "enough already". But he had told them he was going to do 3 songs and he did. His 3rd song is another fun one and a great wrap up to the entire ordeal He also thanks United , as his career skyrocketed because of them and his United Airlines fiasco.

Today, he is back with his 3rd and final installment of his United Airlines ordeal. After I post the 3rd song, I'm going to post the first 2 songs also...just in case you don't remember. Their songs are fun and catchy and I know I'll be humming them all day.

I'm sure that Dave Carroll and his band, Sons of Maxwell, have decided that although "They've heard all their excuses and they've chased their wild gooses" and "I'm sorry sir, your claim can go nowhere.", United may Break Guitars.....but.....United DEFINITELY helps jump start music careers!!

One comment on the YouTube song made me laugh. Someone said they should change the name of the song from "United Breaks Guitars" to "Guitars Break United".

MAYBE United Airlines learned that a little bit of customer service can go a long way, (and not to mention save big headaches down the road)! Well, maybe they did....

SO, (whew) without further ado....

Introducing (again) The Sons of Maxwell singing the final song of their United Beaks Guitars Trilogy, "UNITED WE STAND......On The Right Side of Right".

"Why?" you ask.......
CAUSE TUESDAY IS GUEST STAR DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday My ADHD Me!

Chatty Kelly here, taking over my sister's blog. (It helps that I have her password!)

Today is her birthday. Born April 1st, no joke!

She is a smart woman having graduated from the Fire fighter training academy, even with ADHD. She cares more about others than herself, often to her detriment. She loves her country and all our service personnel. She is feisty. She is a fighter, but has forgotten that sometimes you have to let your guard down. Not everyone is looking for a fight. She is special in the eyes of God, and to me.

Happy Birthday, My ADHD Me!

Love - Chatty Kelly

p.s. Send her extra love because her hubby just called me and said she is at home with a migraine today. :-(
