Today Is Tuesday. You Know What That Means
Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means....
or do you?
It has been a long time.
Perhaps you have forgotten what Tuesday means.
Perhaps you think that Tuesday simply means it is the day after Monday.
Perhaps you think Tuesday means is is the day before Wednesday,
Perhaps Tuesday is laundry day, errand day, cleaning, shopping, or playing day.
Perhaps you think Tuesday is just another day of the week.
OR
Perhaps....JUST PERHAPS,
You actually DO know what Tuesday Means.
Perhaps you woke up this morning and smiled with delight because you couldn't help think that....
Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means.
We're gonna have a special guest!
SO put on your ears.
Like good Mouseketeers
Cause .......
TUESDAY IS GUEST STAR DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This surgery that I am recovering from has taken its toll on me. There have been times I have regretted doing it. I have felt completely helpless/hopeless. I have been angry, anxious, afraid, in pain, frustrated, childish, depressed, bored, impatient and so many other things.
God taught me a new word through all of this. It is PATIENCE. It is not a word I have been familiar with and quite honestly, it is not a word I am crazy about. Patience, Patience, Patience. Say it aloud a few times and see how ridiculous it sounds. well, to me anyway. "Ah, the Lord works in mysterious ways". Yeah, Yeah, I know.
You see, I am beginning to feel better now, (Thank you God). But this is where that ridiculous word comes in. I feel like I can do so much more but if I do the things I want to do (you know, hard things like bending over and picking a pencil up off of the floor), I could do severe damage and end up in the hospital again. PATIENCE. I am SO ready to remove this turtle shell and run a marathon (ok, I never did that before but who knows), or even curl up on the sofa. PATIENCE.
The bottom line is, that if I remember this word, PATIENCE, and abide by the rules (which takes PATIENCE) I have a strong feeling that I am going to be a new woman. Although I am in pain, I think it is surgery/incision pain. I think the original pain is gone. That's right, you heard me...gone. Sure there will be achy days but at 46 years old, that is bound to happen anyway.
So I need your prayers now. For PATIENCE (a ridiculous sounding word), but necessary, none-the less.
I AM going to be the woman I am supposed to be. I have been in pain for close to 20 years. I am not getting my hopes up too high. I know there will be good and bad days. But I also know that I am going to be so much better.
Patience.
Patience.
You see,
I am Strong!
I am Invincible!
Well, I think Helen Reddy can tell you better than I can.
So welcome Helen Reddy as today's Special Guest.
Cause Tuesday is Guest Star Day!!!!!

A Random Random Dozen
1. What is your favorite Mexican Dish?
One with Mexican food in it.
2. When you were a kid, did you get started on your homework right away after school, or did you procrastinate?
Does doing it on the bus on the way to school count as procrastinating?
3. What is your favorite store for home furnishings?
Depends on who's paying.
4. When you were young, did you like school lunches?
Anything they served at school HAD to be better than anything my mother would have sent...if she remembered to make it.
5. Is religion a crutch?
A crutch is similar to a cane, which is what you use after disc fusion and a few laminectomies ...along with a brace, bone stimulator, raised toilet seat, bench in the bathtub and a bottle of Dilaudid.
6. In your region, what is the "big" (most popular in the community or state) high school sport?
football
7. Do you consider yourself rich?
I consider my grandmother's blackberry role with cream on it very rich! AND Delicious!
8. Which of these would you have the best chance for success in administering:
A) CPR
B) Heimlich Maneuver
C) Changing a flat tire
A) CPR... however, I have discovered that it is rarely successful unless someone is already administering it before EMS gets there. What are you waiting for? It's easy! sign up for a class today!!
9. Which dance would you prefer to learn & why:
A) Salsa
B) Hip Hop
C) Waltz
D) Swing
ahem, I'll have to pass on this as I am going to need to learn to walk again first.
10. What's the worst news you've ever delivered to someone?
I worked in the FD. Nuff said
11. Name something you learned in college that had nothing to do with classes or academics.
Kids that pay all, part, or even just a portion of their own way tend to do much better.
12. New variation on an old question: If there's a song in your head that just won't get out, what is your favorite (or most repeated) line in that song?
When I was getting ready for surgery, I was going to run a Tuesday Guest Star with a doctor song. I never got around to it but did a little searching. UNFORTUNATELY, I found this one.
All I really remember is doctor, doctor, doctor, doctor.....

So "They" Say...
I believe I've spoken before about who "THEY" are. You know the ones who say you shouldn't swim for an hour after eating. "THEY" used to say, "Don't lift your arms in the air while you are pregnant or the umbilical cord could wrap around the babies throat" Of course a new and much "hipper" group of "THEY'S" disagreed with the old "THEY's" (now referred to as "THEM"). Now THEY say it is perfectly ok to lift your arms just be sure that after the baby is born that it MUST sleep on his stomach .....back ....left side ......right side.....sigh.
Hhhmmmm.. I had a point.
They said the disc fusion would be difficult. They said recovery was going to be very long and boring at times and I would probably become inpatient. They said I couldn't lift anything over 5 pounds and and the "cute" little saying of "No BLT'S"...bending, lifting, twisting....like I could possibly do any of those things in this space capsule I have to wear at all waking moments.
Ok, So They said it would be Difficult...WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA......OK, so I woke up screaming. I suppose some could say that is difficult. I personally would refer to it as (Thesaurus time), beastly, horrendous, grim, heinous, and atrocious....to name a few. They must have missed the 200 times that I told them I had an extremely high tolerance to pain medication AND the fact that I had brought all of my meds in to prove to them that I took an extremely high amount. They must have thought I was joking. I have vague memories of people yelling more Morphine, Valium, Dilaudid STAT!! (P.S Did I mention that STAT means take your time and wander around aimlessly?)
P.S. Did I mention that STAT means take your time and wander around aimlessly?
P.S.S Did I mention I'm still taking the Dilaudid and the Valium?
If I remember correctly, the last time I had a surgery, I woke up quite peacefully in the recovery room. Not screaming and clawing like I had been shot.
Of course many of you are familiar with the "Slight Pressure" you are to expect while giving birth. Or the "Quick Pinch" while they are sticking an IV in your arm with the diameter of a pencil....for the 5th time. "Oops, sorry we'll get that vein next time for sure.....?" LIES, I tell you!! LIES!!
A-hem.....excuse me I think they forgot to mention the mood swings.
I'm getting tired and have SUCH a story to tell! But it's time for my meds and then....well, after the meds, who care?
So, until then.....Don't believe a word THEY say!!
P.S. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH LEA FOR THE CARD!!!!
