Today is Tuesday. You Know What That Means

Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means.
We're gonna have a special guest.

So put on your ears,
Like good Mouseketeers,
Cause Tuesday is Guest Star Day!

By now everyone has either heard or heard about Christina Aguilera's faux pas while singing the Star Spangled Banner for the Super Bowl. (note how I said Faux Pas....as in foo pah....as in the opposite of phu ma.....).

This will be a huge topic of conversation for a while. But for some reason, it brought to mind another Super Bowl and another Star Spangled Banner. It was at a time when our country was all pulling together. Our men and women in the Military were in the Persian Gulf. For once it seemed like everyone was proud to be an American. It was Super Bowl XX5 and is considered to be one of Televisions Greatest Moments.

Although I have heard this song many many times, sung by many, many people. There was one that still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Pitch perfect and sung with so much gusto, it is one of the few times that the only word to describe it is SPECTACULAR!

I Hope you enjoy today's Special Guest.
I Hope it fills you with pride.
Oh, and it goes without saying... God Bless America!

Very powerful... it feels at times that the passion of patriotism is waning...

P.S - I just realized I can see videos and such on my phone... I feel silly now...

Good to see you flogging again. Hope you are doing well and the surgery was as successful as hoped.

Oh, dear, samurai, I do hope you meant 'blogging'....

I think the times had to do as much with the success of this version as the singing itself. This version actually became a single that was played on the radio regularly for awhile after that. I do remember sitting in a friend's college apartment, watching this on TV, and being completely amazed by the performance.

Whitney was also to be at her most popular. Unfortunately, she fell off her pop pedestal pretty hard not long after that....

But, let's remember her at her peak!

It infuriates me when people are disrespectful to our national anthem. Why don't they move to a communist country and see how that works?

Nice post. :-)

i.e. I was here, read it, and the comments, and have nothing further interesting or witty to add. But wanted to let you know I was here.

That song seems impossible to sing in the best of situations.

Now that's the way to sing the Star Spangled Banner!
