Today Is Tuesday. You Know What That Means

Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means.
We're gonna have a special guest!!

I am trying to think of a great USA Winter Olympic Moment. Unfortunately, the Kerrigan/Harding fiasco keeps coming to my mind. That entire episode was an embarrassment to the USA and they have not been invited to be our special guest.

So, I was browsing You Tube and came across a fantastic moment in USA Olympic history.
You may or may not remember this....that narrows it down, doesn't it? I was in my early teens but I remember "The Miracle on Ice".

If you don't remember, the story is told on the YouTube clip.

It's the 1980 Winter Olympics and the US is about to stun the world with "The Greatest Sports Moment of the Twentieth Century"....." The Miracle On Ice".

Hmmmm. I was still in the single digits during the 1980 games, but I remember the Dream Team. Grew up in a hockey-loving home and loved watching!

"Do you believe in miracles. YES!!!!" I believe it was a Sunday morning, and I've never heard Al Michaels that excited calling anything else. (He is downright boring as an alternate anchor in these Olympics.)

The other big story that year was Gold Medal winner Eric Heiden, who won 5 speed-skating medals. My local New Jersey newspaper had both of those events in an illustrated collage. I cut it out and hung it up.

[Very cool that Eric Heiden became a doctor--THE doctor who worked on short-track skater JR Celski's slashed leg and helped bring him back to shape to earn a Bronze the other night.]

TOTALLY remember this!

[Unfortunately, also remember the skating fiasco, and my heart goes out to Nancy Kerrigan with her troubled family. She has had some difficult times made all the more blown-up through the media.]

OK I'm old! I was grown and had already done 8 years in the Navy and watched this on TV live when it happened.

I was 16 and only remember that when the DJ played that song during the Friday night high school dance, I always hoped ___ would ask me to dance, but alas I had to dream on, dream on, dream on....

I didn't know anything about this but it was pretty cool.

I've heard about it many times, but don't "remember" it since I was very young.
