Today

Today.

Today.

I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree.

I'm not quite sure how the two could be compared on a similar scale.

According to Alfred Joyce Kilmer, the author of the poem, it must be possible, and the poem doesn't stand a chance against the tree. Which, can only make one wonder...why he didn't work in a greenhouse or a tree farm as opposed to writing poetry....Yes, I know he did other things too. I can check Wikipedia as well as the next person. I was just saying....

Anyway, I have tons of things to do today. Don't we all. Just the phone calls I need to make could take half the morning. I DO NOT LIKE MAKING PHONE CALLS (hmm, didn't I mention that before?). You know, to schedule appointments etc. Each one expects you to leave a message so they can call you back WHICH of course, means that if you make your next call, you will be in the middle of it when the first one calls back.

Tons of calls to make...ok, not exactly tons, but a lot. I don't think it would be possible to make tons of calls. After all, a ton is a weight and even though my phone itself may weigh a pound or 2, I'm quite sure the actual calls don't. ACTUALLY...although a ton of calls isn't possible, a pound of calls is, if you are in Europe and are making a call since that is the currency... or did they change that .... I know there isn't a lira anymore but who would say that they need to make liras of calls anyway? Especially if there's something strange, in the neighborhood, who ya gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS!

Opps....Monkeys Are Funny.

Maybe I'll make the calls tomorrow. Or maybe I'll just make a quart of calls today and save the rest for another day.
After all.....Tomorrow IS Another Day...

ANYWAY

Perhaps, tomorrow, you can find a special guest phone operator to make calls for you......hm......

I had to memorize "Trees" in 4th grade, plus another poem of my choosing. I think Joyce Kilmer was from New Jersey, which is probably why we had to memorize it (that being where I spent my growing-up years). Plus, I'm pretty sure there's a Joyce Kilmer rest area off the New Jersey Turnpike.....

"Today" was also a song that we sang in Girl Scouts. (Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine, I'll taste your strawberries, I'll drink your sweet wine....) OK, why we were singing about drinking alcohol for the nursing home residents, I'm not sure. Must have been a classic.....

AND, RJ2 now loves the Ghostbusters theme song. Except, since she really couldn't hear Ray Parker Jr.'s mumbled lyrics, she says "Go Busters!" So, it's the newest sports anthem, I guess.

Happy Groundhog Day, BTW. Did anybody hear "I Got You, Babe" and hit the snooze button? (Bill Murray parallel references; did you catch it?)

I'm alright.... (OOH, another one!)

Sue J- Happy Groundhog Day back to you!
I missed "I Got You Babe", I think...on the other hand I don't remember what was playing. Funny that they played that!
I don't know the song "Today", but I know the song "Tomorrow!". (Annie)

Happy G hog day. I hate using the phone too. And I hateleaving messages and then playing the waiting game. Will they every call back?

The phone is sometimes my friend and sometimes not so much. My job requires me to use it. A. Lot.

If you're making a "quart" of calls, does that make your
"call volume" heavy or light??
Couldn't resist!

Greg--No. They will NEVER call back...until you are in the shower.

But seriously, don't call me, I'll call you. LOL!!!

I've long since retired.
My sons moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
I said "I'd like to see you,
if you don't mind".
He said "I'd love to dad if I could find the time.".

pop goes the weasel and the weasel goes pop...

Seriously, I started out reading Sue J.'s first comment and decided I was going to recite "The sun will come out tomorrow...", ok...great...but...

by the end, I ended up talking about a weasel...What is up with that? How does one get from today and tomorrows to weasels in less than two minutes? LOL

Have you ever read the book, "Women are like spaghetti, and men are like waffles"? This blog chat room would totally end up as a great example of the fact that women can totally go on a million different subjects, yet still kinda' have a clue what's going on...

...except maybe...I'm not sure I still have a clue what's going on...:)

Hey Shirley I like waffles too.

I remember what you were going to say.
"That adhd-jo is the bomb-diggity!"

diggity diggity diggity. I like that word. It's fun to say.

And now a poem: ah-em (clearing throat)

That adhd-jo
she is the bomb-diggity.
she accidentally stubbed her toe,
now she can dance a jiggity.

WAHAHAHAHA!
