One Man's Trash AND It's A Small World After All!!

Last week I spent any available time working on my e-bay account. It never (ever-ever) ceases to amaze me what people will buy and what they will pay for it. I really think it becomes like a gambling addiction and once someone bids against you, you have a real NEED to outbid them. I didn't have any outrageous sales this time but did well and just about everything sold. However, there have been times when you just wouldn't believe what people paid for certain items. Well, maybe you would believe it. It's not like I would lie to you about it. What purpose would that serve? That's right...none at all.

Anyway, there was a pair of jeans, previously worn, that my friend had owned and then cut off into shorts. I don't have the original picture that I put on e-bay any more but it was something similar to the picture of blue jean cut off shorts that is floating around on this page somewhere. (Chatty Kelly HELP!!) I can't figure out how to put the pics in the correct place!!!!

Now it wasn't like the picture ( that is somewhere on this page ) of the thin, statuesque model that is gazing off into space thinking about when she will be allowed to eat her next piece of celery. It was just a picture of the shorts laid out on a tablecloth. I started the bidding at 99 cents. The next day the bidding was around $4.00 and I was thinking that was cool. I had hesitated even putting them up for auction because I was pretty sure they wouldn't sell. WRONG. They ended up selling for $42.00 plus $6.99 shipping and handling. AMAZING! That isn't the most expensive thing I've sold but it is definitely the most surprising.

Here's something else that was VERY surprising. Last year when I was doing some e-bay work, Kelly sent me a post from a lady's blog who had also sold a few things on e-bay. Kelly thought I might enjoy reading it since I was working on ebay too. At the time, I had no idea who this lady was but her story was interesting, so I bookmarked it. The title of her post was "Cash Cow" (do you know who you are yet?). Months later I happened to come across the post and that is when I realized that it was written by none other than our very good friend, (insert friend's name here). I was going to write out who it was, but I worked so hard at learning how to link, that I think I'm going to make you click on the link to see who this lady is.

I guess the saying is true...It IS a Small World After All!!! Oh, and by the way, I'm NOT the one that paid $810.00 for the cow......but I wish I was the one that had been selling it!! : )

Yes, Chatty Kelly, please help ADHDMe with her picture positioning, because her choice of the model in the current position has caused all of us who feature thumbnails on our blog rolls to have the model on our blog rolls, too. (And with the title of "one man's trash," I was really concerned about the content over here today!! LOL!!)

I can do eBay about as much as I can do Facebook..... I don't know how you keep up!

I figured out who you were talking about as I was reading. I'm not sure why she came to mind but she did and I was right.

I also know how to see where the link is leading without clicking on it. :) I'm still gonna click on it when I'm finished here but just a mention. :)

Most of my short are cutoff. Can I just have the email of the person who bought those from you and save myself ebays fees. LOL!

Wow I didn't think anyone did very well on ebay anymore. You go girl!!

I have never sold anything on ebay but my sisters do. They have an antique store. $42.00 for cutoffs and I throw them away.

Okay, I obviously need to dig out that book I have somewhere that tells me how to do this ebay stuff. I've got lots of jeans I'm willing to cut off for $42.00 a pair! We could do my son's alone and have enough to get that car he's wanting! Ebay here I come! Of course, like you, I'll probably get distracted before I actually follow through on it, but it nice thinking for a moment about how rich I could get off of cutoff jeans.

Hey I didn't know you ebay! COOLBEANS! AND BOY OH BOY ya just never know what someone else will pay for something huh?
I once sold ONE BUTTON for fortysome dollars. It was a multi color BAKELITE button. (collectibe sewing button) I just about did a cartwheel!
The cow story was awesome. At first I thought someone was selling a live cow coz that's about what a live one might cost.
WAY TO GOOOOO on the jeans... did ya go cut up any of your own jeans to sell now? heehee
I would!

I don't know... I can't even sell a $50.00 item at a garage sale, for 25 cents, without someone trying to get me down to 10 cents. (I will not even digress into what I say to such people)

It would be my luck that I'd be the one who ended up going in the hole paying for the shipping and handling, or something... LOL

I do have a lot that I've WANTED to put on e-bay, but I've just never been brave enough to JUST DO IT. It's great that you're having success with it.

I sold some golf clubs on Ebay once and got 45 dollars a club. I found them in the dumpster near our house. There were 7 clubs in all. Pretty good find I say. So is that model for sale? I could afford to feed her. LOL

I have an ebay account but like Kelly, I'm just too lazy.

Should do something with it though, after all, I am paying the fees.
