Insanity and Burritos

Insanity runs in my family.

A condition of being insane. A derangement of the mind.
Extreme Folly. Senselessness.

I was going though some pictures from 2008 and came across these.

JM's favorite restaurant is a place called Chapoltle (specialty Burritos) . He would go there every day if I took him. Even so, he probably manages to get there 3-4 times a week via friends and myself. (Remember he still isn't driving again due to his Minor Mishaps (note that is PLURAL!). They were Step Away From the Car, ... Step Away From The Car AGAIN... And
PLEASE, PLEASE Step Away From The Car!! ..(btw, if you have teenagers who are driving or will be soon, you may want to take a few moments and read these 3 posts--in might just never let them drive again!!) That reminds me to let you know how THAT turned out...another time...HEY! Check me Out!! Staying on track....well ... sort of.

ANYWAY, back in October, Chapoltle had a special. On October 31, if you came in the restaurant dressed as a burrito wrapped in foil, you got a free one! Well, JM and his friends just HAD to get in on this. SO, the 5 of us, (JM, 2 friends, Alberquando*, and myself) piled into the car.

First stop, The Dollar Store for 5 rolls of Aluminum foil.
Then, off to the Chapoltle parking lot where one could almost have been blinded had the sun been shining in that direction. There was aluminum foil everywhere!

So, here are a few pictures of JM and his other burrito buddies. (JM is the one on the right in 2 pics and the one in the black shirt in the other.) Alberquando* wouldn't do it and I knew he would have crawled under the car and hid if I did, so we were going to opt out until we discovered (after the boys were in costume) that all you had to do was wrap a piece of foil around your finger like a ring and that counted.

5 Burritos that Normally Cost $6.75 each = $oo.oo
5 Rolls of Foil at The Dollar Tree = $5.00 + tax.
Watching these boys, among others, walk across the parking lot, into the restaurant, order and sit down and eat (as aluminum foil slowly came loose, ripped and unraveled) = PRICELESS!!

P.S. Good thing there wasn't a thunder storm with lightning!
P.S.S. * Alberquando is, from this day forward, going to go by EMT. (He can't go as ET as that is our sister).
P.S.S.S. To any newbies...Alberquando isn't really my 12 year old son's name. You can go to the link on his name to find out why the name Alberquando ended up being his blog name.

Great story! Oh the irony that they went above and beyond, wildly beyond, the requirement!

I am thinking the laughs I got from this are totally worth the $5 you spent, thank you very much. Priceless indeed.

And I hope whoever created that campaign is just so happy to see it being used everywhere--so clever!

Pictures--WOW! You shared this story with me and it's great to see the guys looking so....guapo (which I think is handsome in Spanish). Los muchachos muy guapos. Even if they are burritos! (Valerie....check me out here.....)

Excellent post! If I had an award I would give it to you - lol.

Great content - good story touching multiple levels of emotion

Multisensory - engaging the reader with pictures and words

Staying on track - building excitement by dipping JUST ENOUGH into adhdland to make everyone think "here she goes", but pulling back with purpose

Creating interests in past posts -WITH LINKS

All in all, a most engaging, flowing, entertaining post, ma'am.

Barb...I am MOST honored by your comments. As I am QUITE sure that it is obvious to all that I am really a famous world wide author (or should that say World-Wide, Famous Author?) , sometimes it is hard to allow myself to write in ADHD format. BECAUSE...of course it is obviously a ruse. YES! That's it. It's a ruse....I do it for entertainment reasons....It would really be very easy to stay on track....I have to force myself to drift into ADHDland ....yes....of course.....I do it on purpose.....On Purpose.....Hey....I know her....That's the name of Nicole's blog.....She writes wonderful blogs..... I like to blog ..... I like ice-cream too .....strawberry ...I like strawberry scented candles too ...I like Yankee candles ....Of course being from the south I suppose I should like Rebel candles.... hmm

That's hilarious. And if they do it next year, it will give new meaning to the term "foiled again"!

How fun and what an amazingly fun mom to take them on a burrito adventure!

Edie said...

WAHAHAHA!! This was hysterical! I have to say, I might have been a tad bit upset at being a fully dressed burrito while others only had to dress their finger.

You are so right about no lightening that day. Just proves we have a loving God, cause a mean god would've had a hay day with this event!

The Patterson 5 said...

I've "picture tagged" you!

Chatty Kelly said...

Wow - BRIGHT! My eyes hurt looking at the photos. I so totally would have dressed up. Love it!!

Edie said...

Oh, I forgot, to add... I like the name Alberquando. It's fun to say.

Chatty Kelly said...

Me too, I'm really sad to see Alberquando change his name. It was so hysterical! But I understand why. Linking to that post everytime you get a new reader could be tiring. But it was still funny. Of course I liked Guacamole too for JM. We could call you Salsa & your hubby Chips & you could be a mexican family. LOL

You are "SOME-MOM" to go partake of such an adventure. You WANTED to dress up really bad didn't you?
I bet you did! heheaoaoao Maybe next year, you can call all of us and we'll ALL head to Virginia for some free burritos. A BYOF party.
What say?
Second thought, we just need a quarter roll, since it's just a finger instead. heheoaoaoao

I just wanted to say and write "wahahahahaha". It just looks so fun to say and to write..."wahahahahahahha". You can do it really fast and it is fun. I love the foil. "wahahahahaha" What a fun memory. "wahahahaha" You could call Visa and tell them you have a really great idea for a commercial. Priceless...

Edie said...

So translation of what Sue J said is...
"the guys are very handsome burritos."

Chatty Kelly said...

"handsome burritos" WAhahahahha! (and for the record, I coined that laugh.)

My ADHD Me said...

CK- So you are calling us counterfeiters??

Edie said...

CK - Yes you did coin that laugh, and we appreciate it. It's the best expression of the way I laugh that I've seen anywhere. :)

Chatty Kelly said...

ADHD - not conterfeit...imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Thanks. ;-)

Sue J. said...

They're not far from Devo, really.

So wrap it--wrap it good!

Wah, wah, wah, wah, wah--
Wah, wah, wah, wah, WAH!

If a problem comes along, you must whip it! Wooooo!

Everyone is playing picture tag. come look at Sue J, Edie, Patterson 5, Greg, Me, etc.

Then play too! You're it!

Edie said...

Yeah, come outside and play! :D

Marla said...

I am sure that was a really funny sight to see. I would be afraid to be in foil if lightening was around. My husband always laughed at me because I took my earrings off when it was stormy. I would never be dressed in foil, way to scary!

God's girl said...

I still love the laugh.

I'm glad CK that you started that. We like you, we really, really like you and that is why you are imitated. It sounds like it could be on a Charlie Brown cartoon: waaawaawawawawawa, like the teacher on there talks. Yep.

I looked at everyone's pictures for the picture tag. Looks like so much fun:) I grew up always being the last one picked, wondering which team would choose me. Now that I'm an adult, I waiting to be the last one picked, and wondering who is going to choose me......

(That's a whine, not a wahahahaha)
