Today Is Tuesday. You Know What That Means ... 1-6-09

Today is Tuesday.
You know what that means.
We're gonna have a special guest!

So, get out the broom and sweep the place clean.
Dust off the mat so the WELCOME can be seen.

Roll out the carpet.
Strike up the band.
And give out with a Hip Hooray (HIP HOORAY!)

Wiggle you ears like good Mouseketeers.
We're gonna present a guest today.
Cause Tuesday Is Guest Star DAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

(it was this character that introduced me to most of the classical music I know!)
This is a bit long. Fast Forward to about 1 min & 30 seconds to get right to the song!)

By the way..This was voted as number 12 on the greatest cartoons of all time. It was directed by Chuck Jones and written by Michael Maltese.
The music arrangements are by Carl Stalling but are completely based on Rossini's Overture to The Barber of Seville. I cannot listen to this piece ever again without picturing this cartoon in my head.
Written in 1949 and released in 1950, this shows incredible talent. Oh, and Mel Blanc (Bugs Bunny) , he was incredible. ENJOY!!

Who knew that I could revisit my childhood right here? When the cartoon introduction music came on I was swept back in time. Bugs ws one of my favorites. I'm still easily entertained!

Yes, you are really gaining substance to your blog. So proud of you!!! I loved your guest today. Everything in my life used to stop for Bugs. Him and Keanu Reeves. They were the guys! I mean totally *swoon (I think that's a word), *fainting *awwwww

So, I did some homework (Nah, actually just did a little Googling and cutting and pasting) and did my research for this morning.

Did you know that the overture is played during the end credits of the Beatles film Help!

Or that Overture to The Barber of Seville by Gioacchino Rossini has 150 listeners at www.Last.fm

The Barber of Seville - Overture appears on the album 100 Masterpieces Vol.5 (1811-1841)...

The Rossini Overture to The Barber of Seville is all grace and lithe energy, the singing line primary, but tempered by the buffo spirit. (Whatever that means)

You may heard this overture in bugs bunny Date : 1921. (I really wasn't alive until 1975, but that is really oooolllllddddd. If anyone is reading this and actually was alive in 1921, I'm sorry, but that is old. That is like 87? OMGoodness! That's only 54 more years for me. Oh no, I'm almost oooolllllddddd.)

...That's all folks!

I love how you & I agree we don't watch videos over 3 minutes on other people's blogs, and then you post a 7 minute video...and people are watching it. LOL!!

Happy Tuesday.

I remember that cartoon. Hey, I do have some memory left. I was beginning to think it all left me!

I cannot view your video from work but I assure you that I know what it is and have watched it a hundred times. It is one of my favorites.

Mental Note: no videos over 3 minutes.

Though, I did watch the entire 7 mintues. The boys loved it! I don't think they've ever seen Bugs Bunny before...

Thanks!

Yes, thank you for the entertainment. My son was home sick today, so he watched it...then he watched another one...and another one...and another one...as they scrolled across the bottom of the bugs YouTube screen. He couldn't believe he could tell what was going on and it DIDN'T EVEN HAVE WORDS!!! whoa, what a concept. Let's try it. Can you tell what I'm saying without words?

What do you mean fast forward? I just paused it long enough to grab a cup of coffee. LOL!

I have always loved Bugs Bunny and the *sidekick* cartoons. Now those are some REAL cartoons.

Do you think Greg is telling the truth? LOL!
