Today Is Tuesday. You know what that means. We're Gonna Have a Special Guest!!

Today is Yuesday.
You know what that means.
We're gonna have a special guest.

SO, wiggle your ears, like good mouseketeers.
Cause Tuesday is guest star day!!!!

I'm going to start this post with an apology to many of you.
Today's guest has always been a favorite of mine (I KNOW, I KNOW, I have LOTS of favorites.)

However, a lot of people rank this lady with Barry Manilo and Neil Diamond (sorry, I like Barry Manilo too).

Anyway, Lately I've referred to this lady a few times

HOWEVER, from your comments, I do know that I am not the ONLY fan. A few of you have commented that you like this lady (You really like her).

".....So I supposed, just like me, they long to be, close to you......"
(And some of you will end the clip as soon as it begins. if you do that, however, you're missing out on a classic!!

Good Day.MyADHDMe

Wow - I gotta get me a pink outfit like that. Woo.

And, by the way, Yuesday...LOL! A little typo there. ;-)

Oh....so much to say....

She had a voice like no other. If it were 1972 and American Idol were on, she would be a shoe-in to win. At the time, her dress would have been amazing. And the uniqueness of her voice would have totally won people over.

This video is interesting. Right at the start, you see Karen tapping her foot on an invisible drum pedal! Someone must have told her to stop, because she doesn't do it after the first line or so. Not many folks knew she was the drummer for the Carpenters. And I'm not sure many people understood that Richard was a Carpenter, either! HA!

Actually, the video makes me a little sad, too. I'm not sure when that shot with Miss Piggy was taken, but I didn't think Piggy was that old of a character....maybe late 70s/early 80s? Karen was looking very thin in that photo. I'll never forget the announcement on the radio that day in my college dorm room. I was definitely upset.

But (sniff!), the music lives on. They did some great songs that could still be covered. That voice, though....

I love that song! It's one of the few that I can actually play on the piano. I've always played it hoping for the day when someone would say to me, "Just like me, they long to be, close to you."

*Sigh...

Good thing Jesus affirms that in me daily:)

Good Tuesday choice:)

Don't worry, I'm back to little or no comments daily. I will NOT be back today, even though "I like you, I really, really like you."

I love her too but I always get depressed listening to her music. Such a loss it was.

That voice... what a gift. Her death was the first time I recall hearing about anorexia.

I think I read somewhere that when she was younger, she and her brother played a musical concert (no vocals) and the media referred to her as Richard Carpenters chubby little sister. I'm not sure if that is 100% factual....but it is definitely something I could see the media doing.

I also read that she was much more comfortable behind the drums than singing in the spotlight.

CK- Silly...that wasn't a typo. Today is YOUR day...Yuesday! (ok, it was a typo)

WAH-ah-ah-ah-ah....

I think Karen was the first to come up with that one....

She did indeed have an amazing voice. I remember watching the Karen Carpenter story when I was a teenager and wanting to be able to sing just like that.

Wasn't to be I'm afraid!

And I'm with Kelly on the pink outfit. Gotta find me one of those!

Error found--it wouldn't let me watch it!! I am so disappointed, no really, I am.....I wanted a nice 70's flashback! Was she on the muppet show? .......I loved that show......

The whole time I was listening and singing along I was wondering if Kelly would have worn that pink outfit. LOL! I see she would. Haha!!

Like Beverly, I think the first time I had heard of anorexia was because of Karen's death. It was also one of the few times that I paid attention to the news.

I loved their music. Their Christmas CD is my favorite.

You aren't going to believe this, but I just put that song on my playlist. HOW OLD AM I?

I'm looking forward to reading your 30 x 5 post tomorrow and learning about all the exercising you did. (snicker). You are linking up aren't you?

Just know that I wasn't exactly on par either. Spring break week is tough...kids 24-7.

Ahhh, can you hear me now? That's me singing with Ms. Carpenter. Yep. I opened a new window so I could type and listen at the same time.
And if you ever have Barry as a Tuesday guest, I'll sing along some more. Did I ever tell you that when I was a little girl I wanted to marry him when I grew up?
Marry Barry!
Isn't that cute???

Waaaa, aaaaa, close to you.
Waaaa, aaaaa, close to you.

Have a wonderful day!
